With only three weeks to go, this year’s Motorclassica is really starting to take shape. Our field of entrants in this year’s Australian International Concours d’Elegance is stronger than ever – 139 cars and 33 motorcycles in all, among them 23 brand new restorations from across five states making their public debut.
On the new car front we will see unveilings from Mercedes-Benz, the new Alpine A110, the McLaren Senna and another Australian debut (details soon, watch this space), the Lamborghini Urus and Ford’s new “Bullitt” Mustang plus another top secret release. More than 100 other exhibitors have confirmed their trader stands too, so the gallery level will be chock-a-block with great new products, services and inspiration.
Of course it all kicks off with Tour Classica, and again a record 90 cars and motorcycles have already finalized their participation in this years cavalcade from Boathouse Drive at Alexandra Gardens to the Royal Exhibition Building, with more to follow. This is destined to be one of the best photo opps in Melbourne this Spring, so be sure to get on board.
Tickets are on sale now so be sure to order soon to beat the rush.  Some tickets are available in very limited numbers so don’t be disappointed.  It’s going to be BIG!
See you in October.

Coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the Goggomobil Dart, we take great pride this year in celebrating the smallest members of the classic community, the micro car. Often referred to as cycle cars or “bubble cars”, these eco-warriors are defined by their 1-clyinder, 50 – 500cc engine and (somewhat cramped) seating for two. Thriving for a short time in the 1950s and 60s they consisted of both familiar (BMW, NSU, Mazda) and unfamiliar brands (Messerschmitt, Heinkel, Autobianchi and Steyr). Even Australia had a go, not only producing the Goggomobil Dart (based on a German design) but our very own Zeta, built in three models from 1963 to 1965 courtesy of washing machine manufacturer, Lightburn & Co in South Australia.
Thanks to the National Motor Museum in Birdwood, SA, all three Zetas will be on display at Motorclassica this year, along with more than a dozen other miniature miracles, on the Gallery level.

A combined field of almost 100 cars and motorcycles have already confirmed their participation in this year’s Tour Classica. Departing from Alexandra Gardens on the south banks of the Yarra from 10.30am on Thursday morning, 11 October, this is your first opportunity to see these magnificent vehicles on the road as they were meant to be. Many will be on show to the public for the very first time, post-restoration as our Tour takes them from Boathouse Drive, past the MCG and up Spring Street to finish at the Royal Exhibition Building around 11.30am.
One of Motorclassica’s, if not Melbourne’s greatest photo opportunities, Tour Classica is FREE, so be sure to check here for times and route map so you can stake out your best vantage point.  Oh, and make sure you tune into 3AW from 10am for live updates.

There is no film quite so exciting as a great heist film. And the thing that makes the best ones better, from The Italian Job to Heat, is a well-executed, well-shot, dramatic car chase. This year Motorclassica celebrates cinema’s greatest car chases with a tribute to the heist films of the 21st century. Grab a choc top and settle down in one of our comfy deck chairs for an action-fuelled program which includes Baby Driver (2017), Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) and the Vin Diesel/Paul Walker adrenaline-fest, The Fast and the Furious (2009).

Nagambie’s finest comes out to play at Motorclassica this year, where you can enjoy a range of Mitchelton Wines at one of our four bars – the VIP Lounge, the Targa Florio Bar, the Brabham Marquee and the Gallery Level, Davison Bar. Just 90 minutes drive north of Melbourne, Mitchelton produces 11 reds and 8 white wines across its three Victorian vineyards. But not only that, its recently-opened Hecker Guthrie-designed hotel with 20m infinity pool, tranquil day spa and gourmet restaurant makes for a great touring or club weekend getaway.
