Live Restoration Theatre
Located at the western end of the Royal Exhibition Building’s ground floor, Motorclassica’s new Live Restoration Theatre will span over 100sqm and feature the work of some of Victoria’s most talented and accomplished automotive artisans. A showcase of several traditional and modern trades, the Live Restoration Theatre will feature five cars in various stages of restoration. Broadly speaking, each individual car display will centre around one of the following:
1. Prebuild / Dismantling (with full scope of works addressed)
2. Engine strip and assemble
3. Body reconstruction including advanced panel fabrication / English wheel etc
4. Paint or pre-paint (featuring mobile spray booth) with ancilliary components/jewellery/chrome being fitted
5. Interior upholstery and trim
Whilst the Live Restoration Theatre will be active throughout the three days of Motorclassica, it will be provided special attention during our Schools Program on Friday, and in two 45-minute, interactive sessions on Saturday and Sunday, each hosted by Master Coachbuilder, Brian Tanti.
Visually, the Theatre will take the form of a series of “shop window” or “cubicles”. Each display will be open-fronted with audio-visual aids to enhance interactivity and encourage safe public engagement. Those companies chosen to showcase their skills are among the best of the best, each having been awarded for their work at Motorclassica over previous years.
